Apply now↗01 / The mandate
Own the last mile between a capable robot and a dependable operation.
GappAI is building vendor-neutral Physical AI infrastructure through Capture → Skills → Workforce: governed human expertise and robot operational data become reusable skills that can be deployed across robot platforms.
As we move from platform evaluation into funded industrial pilots, you will connect the laboratory, robot manufacturer and customer site. Your work makes each deployment safe, observable and ready to scale.
The initial engagement is tied to funded pilot work. As deployments become recurring, the role can develop into a founding full-time engineering position.
02 / What you will own
From site survey to operational handover.
You will take technical responsibility for the field deployment layer and close issues across software, hardware, networks, sensors and operations.
- 01
Assess customer sites and translate workflows into technical requirements, constraints and acceptance criteria.
- 02
Integrate and commission robot platforms, sensors, edge compute, networks, charging and teleoperation systems.
- 03
Configure and extend ROS 2, Linux, Python/C++ and manufacturer SDK/API interfaces.
- 04
Run calibration, safety checks, performance validation, failure testing and operational handover.
- 05
Diagnose field issues with GappAI, the robot manufacturer and the customer’s technical team.
- 06
Capture telemetry, interventions and failure modes so field evidence improves GappAI Skills and Workforce operations.
- 07
Produce deployment documentation, train on-site users and provide structured first-line support.
- 08
Travel to customer sites in Germany and, as projects expand, elsewhere in Europe.
03 / What you bring
Systems judgment under real-world constraints.
Core requirements
- Hands-on experience with robotics deployment, systems integration, industrial automation or advanced mechatronics.
- Strong Linux, ROS 2 and Python capability; practical C++ working knowledge.
- Experience integrating networks, cameras, depth sensors, LiDAR, IMUs or force/tactile sensing.
- Disciplined commissioning, troubleshooting, testing and technical documentation habits.
- Professional English, willingness to travel and current authorisation to work in Germany or the EU.
- Calm ownership in ambiguous field situations and direct communication with customers and engineering teams.
Strong advantages
- NVIDIA Isaac Sim/Lab, Isaac ROS, Jetson or related edge-compute experience.
- Teleoperation, robot data collection, evaluation or learning-from-demonstration workflows.
- PLC, OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus or industrial IT/OT integration.
- CE documentation, machinery risk assessment, functional safety or cybersecurity work.
- Humanoids, manipulators, AMRs, quadrupeds or multi-robot fleet operations.
- Working German; additional European languages are welcome.

GrowthPath to a founding full-time role as deployments scale.
We assess evidence of ownership, systems thinking and field execution. A conventional career path is less important than the ability to make complex robotic systems work reliably in the real world.
